About Me

Hi there, thanks for visiting my page!
My name is Moritz Gstuer. I'm working as a researcher at the KIT in the field of cybersecurity and cryptography since 2025. I received my bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). During my computer science studies, I did research on novel mechanisms for the composition and refinement of knowledge provided by reverse engineering of IT systems. My recent research is focused on securing critical infrastructure, such as smart electricity grids, against cyberattacks. I'm especially interested in designing, implementing, and evaluating novel access control approaches for time-critical and resource-constrained systems. Thus, my current projects are primarily concerned with the employment of attribute-based access control (ABAC) in systems with real-time constraints. If you are interested in my research or have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me or take a look at my publications listed at my ORCID page.

Research Interests

Espresso Is What It's All About

When I'm not coding or working in our security lab on campus, I'm likely to be drinking espresso at a portafilter machine nearby. My girlfriend and I are proud owners of an ECM Synchronika machine, which provides us with delicious coffee every single day. I'm a huge fan of well-roasted and well-brewed coffee, and I'm fascinated by the science and engineering behind it. I also enjoy maintaining, repairing, and fine-tuning portafilter machines and coffee grinders. I'm also currently planning to design and construct my own portafilter machine from scratch.
